About the Artist

Hi! My name is Ramsey, I’m an artist and I love creating in a variety of mediums. I was born and raised in NC but now reside on the coast in SC! I’ve loved art for as long as I can remember, its been a passion that I have pursued my entire life. I can recall on every “what do you want to be when you grow up” assignment over the years, my answer was always the same - I want to be an artist. I began making commissioned artwork when I was in middle school, selling hand drawn pencil portraits to my peers. Through word of mouth this little side hustle grew and I began taking on portrait and other commissions for family, friends, and friends of friends and family. Starting commission based work at such a young age really helped me to establish a love for creating for other people. The pure joy and fulfillment that coincide with the reaction of a client when they receive their finished drawing or painting is truly unmatched. I’ve always found myself creating for others whether through commissions or as gifts, it is my very favorite way to implement my artistic abilities.

Once I graduated high school in 2016, I decided to further my artistic career by obtaining my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Coastal Carolina University. During my time at CCU I pursued further knowledge and skills with focuses in painting, drawing, and photography. After graduating from CCU in 2020 I knew there was only one path for me - I needed to continue my work as a freelance artist, doing what I love most - creating for others.

After a few years of scattered commissions, I discovered live event painting. I felt incredibly called to enter this field, what an honor it would be to create live for clients and to see their reactions first hand to the artwork being made specifically for them. The first year I began booking live paintings was 2023, with three full years of live painting under my belt, I can’t imagine my life without it.

There is no greater honor than having the opportunity to paint these precious moments for you. I would love to work with you on your special day to create a unique memory - whether through a traditional live painting or live guest portraits! If your special day or event has passed - I do commission work from photographs as well. Commissions can be event based or any other subject matter - portraits, landscapes, etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little bio! I hope to connect with you soon, and I would love to create for you if you find me to be the right fit!

Services

Traditional Live Event Painting Acrylic on Canvas

For a traditional live painting I will arrive on site about two hours before your chosen scene begins (ceremony or reception scene) to begin working on the background of your painting. I will continue to paint throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception (or throughout the established timeline of your non-wedding event) and get your painting to an almost completed state by the end of the night! With this service you will receive approximately 6-8 hours of live painting on site (depending on the timeline of your event and the chosen moment). Once the night has ended - I will take the painting back home to my studio for final layers and touch ups! The finished product will be delivered/shipped to you within approximately 5-6 months of your event date (depending on the artist’s current commissions schedule).

For live watercolor guest portraits I arrive on site approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony begins to set up without interrupting the event. I’ll begin taking the reference photos and guests names down as soon as the time I’m hired for starts. I’ll continue to paint for the entire time I am booked for, finishing approximately 10 guests per hour, whether they are individuals or groups! Portraits finished on site can be available for guests to pick up once finished or they can be mailed to you to distribute to guests all at the same time. Any additional guests that are not finished within the booking period can be finished after your event for an additional fee. Additional portraits will be completed and shipped to the client within 6-8 weeks of the event date (depending on how many additional portraits).
